- Color-Coded Topology Mapping: Scans every available module and renders the results as a network tree, showing which units are faulting and how they communicate. This is the D8S’s main differentiator over the older D8, though XTOOL notes topology isn’t supported on every make.
- Full Bidirectional Control: Commands components directly rather than just reading their codes — injector tests, ABS motor pump cycling, EVAP tests, A/C clutch and window actuation, idle relearn, fuel trim reset. XTOOL advertises over 4,000 active tests across supported vehicles.
- 42+ Reset Services and Ford PMI: Covers oil, EPB, BMS, SAS, DPF, throttle, and A/C relearn among others. The PMI function lets you copy configuration data from an original module to a replacement unit on Ford, Lincoln, and Mazda vehicles.
- Protocol Coverage for Newer Vehicles: Supports CAN FD for GM 2020 and newer, DoIP for BMW E/F/G chassis plus Jaguar and Land Rover, and FCA AutoAuth for Chrysler 2018+. AutoAuth requires registering an account through AutoAuth directly, which is a separate step from buying the tool.
