Screen Mirroring

If you want to quickly and easily project content from your smartphone onto the TV, screen mirroring is the perfect solution. We will show you the fastest way to connect your smartphone to the TV and what you should pay attention to.

Screen Mirroring

It allows you to transfer videos, pictures, or even games to a smart TV to benefit from a larger screen. Especially in the times of Netflix, YouTube, and co., Screen Mirroring is indispensable.

Depending on which device you have, you can use Screen Mirroring with an Android smartphone or an iPhone. The transfer works especially easily with Samsung devices, which have been convincing with Smart View for quite some time – but meanwhile, the method can also be used with many other multimedia devices, just under a different name.

What is Screen Mirroring and how does it work?

Screen mirroring is a practical way to project content from a smartphone onto a TV. A connection is established between the two devices, and you can view data in real-time on a larger screen. Strictly speaking, it is only “screen mirroring” with Samsung devices.

Those who do the same with a TV from LG, Panasonic, or Philips probably know the application under the name “Miracast.” On the other hand, Sony devices are referred to as “screen mirroring.” Especially with Android smartphones, the transfer works quite easily.

All you need is a smartphone with at least Android 4.2 to run and use the Miracast. You can then establish a direct Wi-Fi connection between the Android device and the TV using Wi-Fi Direct technology. The connection does not require a WLAN router at all. In the next section, you will learn how this works exactly.

If you want to play content from your smartphone with Android 6.0, proceed as follows: First, open the settings in your smartphone. Then click on “NFC and Sharing” and activate the “Screen Mirroring” function. After that, you have to select the respective output device. Smart TVs that use Android TV are usually displayed directly here.

Otherwise, you can tap on the “Scan” function and select the respective device there. As soon as the suitable TV device appears in the selection list, you can specify it with a short click. It will display the corresponding content directly on the smart TV in just a few seconds.

If you have a Samsung smartphone, you can make it even easier and use the pre-installed Smart View function. To do so, drag the options bar down and click on the Smart View icon. After that, you will scan all available devices.

As soon as you select the suitable TV, all content is transferred. Smartphones from other manufacturers often have a pre-installed setting as well. If you have a current Huawei smartphone, you can, for example, activate the transfer with the function “Easy Projection” or “Wireless Projection.”

Users of iOS 11, iOS 12, and iOS 13 will find the function under the term Screen Sync. With this function, you can stream various contents to an Apple TV. You can also transfer photos, videos, images, and more to a Vizio Smart TV or any other devices with the right tools.
